Tuesday was a beautiful day in Guatemala. Each morning a delightful lady cooks a breakfast for us. The food is amazing and the fresh fruit is a big hit.

On the bus ride to the school in the mountains a Guatemala church member sat next to me. She spoke very little English and I speak even less Spanish. Using Google Translate, however, we had a wonderful conversation. She wants to go to the university to study law.

When we arrived at the school many of the children were waiting for us to arrive. I used my limited Spanish skills to greet them.

We had about 130 children in attendance. It was a fun morning and I enjoyed the opportunity to teach from Psalm 139 that God Knows Everything. I shared the gospel in each of the five groups.

In the afternoon we had four teams go to the homes of eight different families. The were expecting us and were extremely grateful for the gift of clean water. They have to boil their water with a wood fire, so this will save them considerable time to have safe water to drink. The filters were provided by Mercy Waters.

Dr. Norma was our translator and as a medical doctor she explained how important clean water is for their health. Lisa then taught them how to use the filter and how to clean the filter.

I then had the opportunity to share the gospel using the account of Jesus in John chapter four where he asks a Samaritan woman for a drink. He offered her living water for eternal life.

Both of the ladies asked us to pray for them and so Dr. Norma prayed for Ruth and I prayed for Veronica. They couldn’t stop thanking us for the gifts. (We also gave both ladies Spanish New Testament Bibles.)

The day ended with a delicious Guatemala feast followed with a dark chocolate cake. It was the perfect end to an amazing day.

Thanks for praying. We have learned that it is important to be very flexible. The team has been working extremely well together to get the work done no matter what happens!
