We Will Receive $472.63 Tomorrow

I know that most of my readers have no interest in trading options contracts. That is a shame, but I understand many of the reasons for that hesitancy. That doesn’t mean, however, that you can’t benefit from the options trades of some experts. They can make the trades for you.
AMD – Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
Let’s assume you would like to benefit from ownership in AMD. The current stock price is about $505 per share. Most investors are hesitant to purchase shares that cost that much. However if I told you that the ETF AMDY has a game plan to make money on options contracts for AMD shares, and that the ETF would pay you weekly, and that one share only costs $44.70, perhaps you would be interested.

I don’t own any shares of AMD, but Cindie and I do own 1,256 shares of AMDY. The most recent weekly dividend is $0.3763. Therefore, tomorrow morning we will receive $472.63 in weekly income from those shares. Last Friday we received $598.76 in dividends. The week before that we received $594.72. The week before that we received $747.73. So far, in 2026 our dividend income from AMDY has been just over $11,114 in dividends.

The cost basis for our shares is $62,344, including shares I purchased in 2025. Our total income from these shares for 2025-2026 is $12,972. While it is true that the value of the shares has dropped to about $58K, that paper “loss” is insignificant compared to the income. If you add the $13K of dividends to the $58K of current value, the shares have provided income without a loss of assets. Rather, there has been an overall gain.

Alternative Relative Value ETFs
Using the Seeking Alpha tools, it is easy to see why AMDY has a QUANT rating of STRONG BUY. AMDY is ranked Overall as 44 out of 3876 possible investments. It is ranked 4 out of 660 in it’s Asset Class, and it is ranked 2 out of 520 in its Sub Class.
The QUANT rating does not mean there is zero risk. The success of options trades is only as good as the price and momentum of the AMD shares in the market. So it would be foolhardy to sell all of your investments and only own AMDY. So, for example, of our very large portfolio of investments, only 1.7% of our total dollars have been used to purchase AMDY shares.
AMDY is best understood as an alternative-income or derivative-income ETF, not a conventional “relative value” ETF. The ETF’s managers use options on Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) to seek weekly income. Its strategy generally involves obtaining synthetic exposure to AMD and selling call spreads to collect option premiums. The fund does not simply buy and hold AMD shares. It has a 1.00% gross expense ratio.
A Helpful Summary
Income source: Option premiums, not ordinary stock dividends. This means the ETF gets cash for trading options contracts.
Underlying exposure: Primarily the price behavior and volatility of AMD. In other words, if AMD share prices are going up, that is good news. If the price drops, that can be painful.
Upside: The call-spread strategy can limit participation in large AMD rallies. Pay attention to AMD’s earnings date: November 2, 2026. Bad news could be bad news for AMDY.
Downside: AMDY can still lose substantial value if AMD falls; the option strategy does not provide full downside protection.
Payments: Distributions can vary and should not be treated as a guaranteed yield or return of profit.
Risk: It is concentrated in one volatile technology stock and uses derivatives, making it much riskier than a diversified equity ETF.
Recommendation: Don’t rush to buy but understand the benefits of AMDY’s strategy.
AMDY may appeal to someone seeking current cash distributions who has a neutral-to-moderately-bullish view of AMD. It is generally less suitable as a core long-term holding or as a direct substitute for owning AMD, because high distributions can coexist with declining share price and total return. The fund itself warns that continued call writing can reduce participation in AMD’s positive returns and that investors can lose part or all of their investment.
