Cannot Hit it out of the Parkside

This 1959 video tells the story. We lived in a tiny house on a corner in Naperville Illinois in the 1950’s. The video was captured about 1959 when I was eight years old. We lived on Parkside Rd, and, as you can see, I couldn’t even hit the ball out of the Parkside, much less out of the park.

I certainly was a well-dressed batter, but I was also easily injured. I didn’t really enjoy playing baseball. It required too much waiting and sitting.

The other interesting thing is that the house I lived in hasn’t really changed much. But our neighbor’s home was razed and replaced with a big mansion.
