“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 ESV. This is what makes a Merry Christmas merry! It isn’t stuff under the tree, but the One Savior who went to the tree on Calvary. I love you, but God loves you so much more.
This morning during the worship service I was reminded of the things I can do for my grandchildren. In addition to praying for you, I can give you gifts. As a grandfather I desire to give you good gifts. I want them to be things you will enjoy and that will bring you a tiny bit of happiness. Most of the gifts I will give you won’t last very long. But there is something I do want to pass on to you that will last forever. But just like any other gift, you must accept the gift for it to be your gift.
The gift isn’t something I bought but I can tell you about the gift. Someone else paid the price. God gave his Son so that you would not perish. Receive that gift. Know that God is faithful. Matt Maher said it well.
