Proverbs 19:14 (ESV) “House and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.”

Let me say without reservation, that I have a prudent wife. This shows up on several levels. As I struggle with ongoing skin rash issues, she is prudent and thoughtful about what should and should not be in our home on the cleaning products shelf. She is thoughtful about the food items in the refrigerator. She has created a box of gluten-free products to use in baking me delicious chocolate chip cookies and other favorite treats I enjoy. She is careful about the soaps, perfumes and things like Febreze that can make a couch or chair smell great and turn up the agony for me.

But it is far more than these physical things. She is careful with her words and uses her time in loving her mother who is unable to do simple things without assistance. This includes some things that are not pleasant to do so I won’t talk about them. She is prudent about trimming her mom’s nails and continuing to try to watch for the things that please her.

So, without reservation, the words “a prudent wife is from the Lord” are very true. I would not have picked Cindie from the crowd. But God orchestrated the way we met even when Cindie was hesitating. He did not let Cindie’s first refusal stop the youth pastor’s wife from being persistent. It should be mentioned that my mother was very pleased when Cindie and I started to get to know each other. Of all the young gals at church, Cindie is the one she thought would be right for me. That means both God and my mother were right.
