This Schwab ETF is similar in many respects to VYM. Both Cindie and I hold shares of both VYM and SCHD. My largest ETF holding is VYM, but I like the fact that these have a different mix by sectors. SCHD has Consumer Staples, Information Technology and Industrials as the top three sectors at the present time. VYM, in contrast, holds Financials, Health Care and Consumer Staples.

SCHD and VYM Sectors

Here are some key things about SCHD:

Expense Ratio                                           0.07% – This is very good.

Assets Under Management (AUM)          7.88B – A large ETF. VYM is much larger.

ETF Category                               Large Value company mix

Net Asset Value (NAV)                 $49.63

Total Holdings                             101 – good diversification

Dividend yield                             2.76% – A good yield. Compare to  VYM:  is 3.07%.

5-Year Returns                            57.44%

Ranking (SCHD – Real-Time SMART Grade™) on etfdailynews.com is #9 of 82 in Large Cap Value ETFs.

The XTF.COM rating for SCHD is 9.8 out of 10.0 with FIVE Morningstar stars.

The XTF.COM rating for VYM is 10.0 out of 10.0 and four Morningstar stars.

You can find the XTF, Morningstar and other ratings when you are signed on to a Fidelity Investments accounts. I prefer the XTF rating over Morningstar.

Recommendation: I would recommend both SCHD and VYM for diversification.
