People Are Terrorists at Different Levels

If you think political leaders, regardless of party, can fix what is fundamentally wrong in the world, then you are probably going to be disappointed. In 2 Timothy 3:1-5 we see an accurate picture of humanity and the trendline: “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.” (ESV) Because of this reality, there will be police, military, prisons, bomb-sniffing dogs, the CIA, the FBI and “peace-keeping” forces. Like most things in today’s world, there will also be technology. One such provider of technology for this growing need is Palantir Technologies Inc.

Why I bought shares of Palantir Technologies

Palantir Technologies Inc. builds and deploys software platforms for the intelligence community in the United States to assist in counterterrorism investigations and operations. It offers Palantir Gotham, a software platform for government operatives in the defense and intelligence sectors, which enables users to identify patterns hidden deep within datasets, ranging from signals intelligence sources to reports from confidential informants, as well as facilitates the handoff between analysts and operational users, helping operators plan and execute real-world responses to threats that have been identified within the platform. The company also provides Palantir Foundry, a platform that transforms the ways organizations operate by creating a central operating system for their data; and allows individual users to integrate and analyze the data they need in one place. Palantir Technologies Inc. was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in Denver, Colorado.

This Week’s Trades

Because there were a couple of days of panic-selling, I was able to add shares of AVGO, MRK, VALE, and QCOM. I also sold a small slice of our NEE shares. I see an opportunity with Carnival Cruise now, so I bought 100 shares of CCL and then sold a covered call on my shares. That gave me more income. I also bought 100 shares of PLTR. This is a high-risk, but potentially high-reward investment. Someone needs to slow down the 2 Timothy 3 sinners, and I think PLTR can help with that.

I purchased 100 shares of PLTR this week. PLTR does not pay a dividend and there is substantial short interest. In other words, some investors think the current price of the shares is too high. That might be the case.
