New Every Morning

When I wake up in the morning, I sometimes there is a bit of “old” coffee in a cup I was using the previous day. But I don’t just warm up the old coffee. My first cup is going to be fresh. It is new every morning. But it isn’t the only new thing when I start my day.
As soon as I saw the word fresh, I looked out of our front window and saw a fresh layer of snow. It reminded me of the prayer of King David in Psalm 51 where he asks God to wash him. He recognizes his sin and wants to have his relationship with God such that he is clean like the world covered by a fresh coat of snow.

My brain also pulled up a chorus that comes from Lamentations. It is encouraging that in spite of remorse and lamenting our sin, God’s mercies are new every morning. They aren’t stale. They aren’t mercies only good for yesterday. They are new today.

Here are two good ways to be reminded of the fresh mercy of God. Listen to both if you have the time.

I haven’t heard that song in years but how wonderful to listen to it this morning! His mercies – new every morning. He gives us exactly what we need for the day. He is always sufficient to meet the demands. Glad we were neighbors this morning 🙂

God is so good and his mercies are new very morning. Such a great verse and such a promise to cling to too. Love to snow photo

Fresh snow in Wisconsin! What a beauty! So thankful we have that white snow washing over us from Jesus. He gives us a fresh start everyday…free from the sins of days past. I appreciate your reminder of this. I pray you have a blessed day with coffee and calmness on a snowy day! Jennifer, FMF

That’s so good Wayne. I see you partook in the same snow system that hit us yesterday. Beautiful.

I wait each morning for the dawn,
flame-flicker on the hills to east,
because it always gives me calm,
and though it cannot tame the beast
of cancer that’s now killing me,
it tells me that I need not worry
and need but open heart to see
that death will not be End of Story,
which really is not too surprising;
God is fond of metaphor,
and sunrise stands for His Son’s Rising
and walking through the open door
on the brightly dawning day
when the stone was rolled away.

One of my favorite verses – new every morning. That verse is the verse of hope and restoration. Thank you.
