AvalonBay Communities has an 8-year track record of Dividend Growth
I don’t want to own or manage or repair apartment buildings. That isn’t my interest or area of expertise. But I don’t mind owning a REIT with apartment buildings that collects the rent and sends me my share.
AvalonBay Communities is one such investment. As of December 31, 2019, the Company owned or held a direct or indirect ownership interest in 297 apartment communities containing 86,846 apartment homes in 11 states and the District of Columbia, of which 22 communities were under development and two communities were under redevelopment. The Company is an equity REIT in the business of developing, redeveloping, acquiring and managing apartment communities in leading metropolitan areas primarily in New England, the New York/New Jersey Metro area, the Mid-Atlantic, the Pacific Northwest, and the Northern and Southern California regions of the United States.

Notice the Ex-Dividend date is March 30th.

When buying a dividend investment, always check the dividend payout ratio. I think AVB’s payout ratio is acceptable and sensible. Also check the REITrating at reitnotes.com.
