It is no mistake the Preamble to the US Constitution starts with “in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice…” This was a wise foundation, ignored in far too many countries. Lies from false witnesses mock at justice. God takes a very dim view of anything that fails in the justice department. He views it as treacherous. It is treason. It is extremely dangerous to lie about God.

“A worthless witness mocks at justice, and the mouth of the wicked devours iniquity.” – Proverbs 19:28 (ESV)

“A truthful witness saves lives, but he who utters lies is treacherous.”   Proverbs 14:25

By definition, a witness is someone who affirms. God has a simple standard regarding witnesses: “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.” Exodus 20:16 Why is this command so important? Because God places a very high standard regarding truth and justice. To compromise on the truth or to subvert justice are opposed to God’s basics standards for life. If we can follow three requirements, the reality is that everything else will fall into place. We are to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with God. “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” – Micah 6:8 (ESV)

We all want the truth and we want others to speak the truth about us and for us. It is a shame that far too many only want justice and kindness for themselves and give little thought to the same requirements for others.

Before we falsely assume this is a courtroom issue, realize that it applies in every aspect of society including business, news reporting and Facebook posts.
