My tendency is to forget what an excellent Word God has provided. Now it isn’t that I really forgot it, but that the realities of life cause me to ask, “is it really so?” The author of the hymn “How Firm a Foundation” wanted those who heard it and sang it to see the richness of God’s Word. He didn’t have to provide it. Our biggest problem isn’t having the information we need for critical life thinking, responses and behaviors, it is believing what He has already said. What more can He say?

God has an interesting demand in Hebrews 11:6. He wants me to believe Him. Is this wise? Yes. He doesn’t lie. “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

How Firm a Foundation (Verse 1)

How firm a foundation you saints of the Lord

Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word

What more can He say than to you He has said

To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled

To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled

What more can He say?
If I believe that Jesus can rescue me with an everlasting rescue, why not believe the rest what God has said to me?
