Education and Ideas

There are two things that many financial advisors don’t do or don’t do well or don’t have the time to do well. One of the key pieces is education. A good advisor will want you to learn. This isn’t just so you can fly solo, but so that you understand the recommendations of the advisor.
The second thing is that they should present ideas to you and explain why their investment ideas are worthy of your consideration and your investing dollars. Far too many novice investors are really just following their leader from afar and don’t really understand what is in their investment portfolio or why it is there.
Seeking Alpha, on the other hand, does a lot of education. I recently watched one example of this. The topic was “3 Beaten-Down Stocks Ready for a Rally.” What I liked about the video was that it was both educational, realistic and also included ideas for how to use Seeking Alpha’s recommendations and some cautions about some QUANT ratings that look very enticing.

I highly recommend that you watch this video if you are already a Seeking Alpha user. I also think it is worth the time to watch the video before you decide to subscribe.

Selected Slides from the Video
To save you some time, if you decide not to watch the video, I am providing the three recommendations. They are WLDN, BLBD, and FDP. However, if you buy these investments without understanding why they were recommended and what the risks are, then you have one person to blame: yourself.

WLDN is Willdan Group, Inc., BLBD is Blue Bird Corporation, and FDP is Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. I do not own these stocks, but I will be adding them to my watchlist. I want to see if they have weekly options. That would be my preference.
