She is also my only wife.

So many things have been part of our marriage. It all started with a letter that Cindie did not want to write to a sailor stationed in Hawaii at the Naval Air Station at Barber’s Point on the island of Oahu. One letter turned into many letters. Now, after knowing each other for over 50 years, I can only say Cindie is second only to Jesus for someone who has loved me in spite of my sin.

This is true of my bride: she is excellent, she is prudent, she is one who does good to me and to others, she opens her mouth with wisdom, she teaches kindness by her actions, she is a hard worker, and she fears the Lord.

Proverbs 12:4

An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who brings shame is like rottenness in his bones.

Proverbs 19:14

House and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.

Proverbs 31:10-12

An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.

The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain.

She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.

Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.

She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.

Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:

“Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.”

Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.
