Do You Like Extra?

Most of the time we like “extra.” We want to go from the ordinary to the extraordinary. We want extra-soft, not just soft toilet tissue.
I like products that give me some extra rather than in decreasing the size or volume of a product. I appreciate people who go the extra mile. I like extra stuff.
There is a product on Amazon that is called “Hairitage Something Extra Anti Dandruff Balancing Leave-in Conditioner – Conditions + Calms Scalp – Nourishes + Moisturizes Hair – Improves Hair Elasticity + Manageability.” This product does everything. It goes the extra mile for being anti-dandruff. It conditions. It calms my scalp – what an extra! It claims to nourish what little hair I have. It must be great because it moisturizes. It makes my hair elastic (is that a good thing?). Furthermore, who would not want their hair to be manageable? Perhaps we could spread it on our children to make them calm and manageable.
We should also be “extra.”
Do You Do Extra to Others?
True Christians are “extra” people. They are the “above all these” people. They do the “in additions” of life in relationships. They put on certain characteristics that are not really natural or normal. Paul said this to the Christians:
“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:12-15
So the question is, are you and I extra forgiving, extra loving, extra in living in harmony and extra thankful regardless of life’s ups and downs? Living like an extra person is really the only way to live.
