2024 Travels Are About People and Adventures

On The Road Part One: Louisiana

One of my readers got me to think about our travels this year. We have been blessed in so many ways. Here is what Bill said: “Dear Wayne, So, I understand you and your wife are on a trip. Perhaps a short note as to exciting things you are doing or noting would be of interest to your fans. Also, I do like trying new easy recipes when those are shared as well. It makes me wonder if the wife has some cookie recipes for us all as well. Yes, no financial/investing questions today. And if not for the flock you can send them to me the gander. Take Care.

Year-to-Date Travels

Earlier in the year we took granddaughter number two to three of the Hawaiian islands: Oahu, Maui and Kaui. Not long after that I flew to California to help my long-lost brother with some of his medical needs and to assist the social worker who was doing a great job. Then, not long ago, Cindie and I drove through Minnesota, South Dakota, and into Montana to visit our nephews Tom and Joe. We enjoyed the mountains, Yellowstone Park, and then Mount Rushmore on our travel back home.

Louisiana and Then Florida

Now we are on a sixteen-day trip that includes time with Don and Melinda (D&M) in Amite Louisiana. The hotel in Springfield IL on our way south was nice. The one in Southaven Mississippi was very nice. But there is nothing better than a first-class bed and breakfast. While Don and Melinda’s place is not a true B&B, it is a wonderful place. It gets five stars.

Cindie and I don’t need exotic places or fast-paced entertainment or special side trips. While ziplining in Hawaii is fun, resting in a cabin in the quiet farming community away from even the small city is delightful. Furthermore, we eat well for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The D&M Cabin

If you think the Big Sky Montana cabin, which we rented for two weeks was nice (and it was!) don’t think we are any less spoiled in the D&M Cabin. It is perfect. It is a great place to rest after a relaxing day. In other words, give me peace and quiet.

These pictures give you a taste of our roughing it lifestyle for the first half of our trip. I also have some other pictures to share, but I will save those for Part Two.

Appreciate God’s Gift: Ecclesiastes 3:9-13

“What gain has the worker from his toil? I have seen the business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with. He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God’s gift to man.”
